Welcome to Year 6!!
We have been working hard this term preparing for SATs but also enjoying our topic on The Vikings!!
The children have written exciting news reports about the raids on Lindisfarne and dramatic narrative poems about the Viking voyages and battles!
The children are passionate about reading so World Book Day was a perfect excuse to dress up as our favourite characters and read extracts from our favourite books. I did wonder of St Greg's had turned into Hogwarts as we saw so many characters from the Harry Potter books!!
We hope you enjoy looking through our photos and also check out more pictures of World Book day on the Literacy page!
We have had such a busy term! The children have settled in to their roles and responsibilities as year 6, "top of the school"! They have been working hard as Infant Play Monitors, Lunch Buddies and Peer Mediators. They are now busy rehearsing for the annual Christmas production!
In class we have been studying Volcanoes and learning about the causes and effects of volcanic eruptions around the world. In the second half of the term they have been learning about space and wondering if there is life on Mars! We have been reading "Cosmic" by Frank Cottrell Boyce which has captured their imaginations!
