This week in Maths, we are moving onto the 'time' unit.
In Year Two, the children need to become confident with telling and recording the time on an analogue clock. They then move on to digital time in Year Three.
These are the objectives that we will be working on over the next two weeks:
- Tell and write the time to five minutes, including quarter past/to the hour and draw the hands on a clock face to show these times.
- Compare and sequence intervals of time.
- Know the number of minutes in an hour and the number of hours in a day.
This week we will focus on quarter past and to the hour, to make sure that the children are really confident with this, before moving onto the nearest five minutes next week.
It would really help your child if they had a clock where they could move the minute/hour hands around. I will put a template below which you could print for making your own clock to use at home.
Alternatively, you can buy 'Teaching Aid Clocks' from Amazon, if you would like to. I will paste the link to one below. Please do not feel obliged to do this, it is completely optional and just an idea for something that may help.
