VOCATIONS SUNDAY

Vocations Sunday

4th Sunday of Easter – 3rd of May 2020

Dear Year 5 and Year 6,

In readiness for Vocations Sunday, on the 3rd of May, The Diocesan Vocations office have sent Miss Cole materials that can be used virtually to help us explore Vocations.  She has asked me to share these with you as we are unable to do this in school this year like we would normally do.

The materials include, a letter to you from Pope Francis.  In this letter he is asking us to reflect on the Gospel passage of the stormy night on the sea of Galilee and our own journey through life.  Our first vocation is the call to follow Jesus, to open our hearts to gratitude, knowing that Jesus gives us encouragement and courage.  On this difficult journey we will experience fatigue when things get tough but by getting through we are opening ourselves up to praise.

There is also a Power Point, prayer card and Biblical text for us all to use with your families on Sunday, 3rdMay to enable us all to reflect and pray together.

Vocations Task

In the week beginning the 4th of May we would like you to complete an RE task to explore and reflect on these materials.

Praying for and promoting Vocations task ideas:

  • Create a leaflet/poster responding to Pope Francis' letter
  • Make a Collective Worship PowerPoint on the importance of Vocations
  • Portray the ideas through a poem, prayer or art
  • Reflect/retell the Gospel of Jesus calming the Storm
  • Write an eloquent letter to promote vocations
  • Make a stop motion animation of Jesus calming the storm
  • An idea of your own

We would love to see and celebrate what you have created.  Please send your work to Y5SGP@welearn365.com.

I look forward to seeing what you have created

Yours sincerely
